Originating from a science background, my creative journey began during the first UK lockdown of the Covid-19 pandemic. What started as a hobby during confinement soon became a creative release for my recently discovered synaesthesia – in my case, the constant explosion of colour in my head and sensory overload that comes with seeing or hearing words and experiencing music in colour. Many artists will tell you that they need to create to function and there is no greater truth. Abstract art allows you to see the world with different eyes and is now my all-consuming passion.
I love the smooth feel of acrylics, the challenge of working without a reference point, and the freedom of flying my freak flag using mixed media. My emerging voice reflects all the weird and wonderful things I love – from art: Jasper Johns, David Hockney, Edvard Munch, Franz Kline and hundreds more, comics, abstract art, industrial art, pop art, steampunk and everything gothic; from music: post-punk, metal and grunge-bred but lately, an eclectic range of genres; and from nature, science, zoology, space, geometry and architecture, as well as travel and the richness of different cultures.
